Alberta Agriculture and Forestry wildfire status map shows the fire near Bragg Creek is still listed as “Out of Control.”

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry have now listed the fire at McLean creek as being held and has now shrunk to 60 hectares. No evacuation order is in effect at this time, however, smoke in the area may impact air quality, and Mclean Creek road remains closed at this time. Alberta Emergency Alert confirmed there is no evacuation order at this time. "Smoke in the area may impact air quality, and McLean Creek road remains closed at this time," the website stated. The M.D. of Foothills placed a voluntary evacuation up until Monday for residents living south of Highway 22 west of Highway 762 and north of 178 Avenue. This includes residents of Bragg Creek and Redwood Meadows. Campers in the area are asked to be vigilant and to not go into the area. Officials said Sunday night the fire was around 100 hectares and was contained by use of retardant. As of Monday morning, Redwood Meadows fire chief Rob Evans said the fire was still about 100 hectares. Evans said a mandatory evacuation would only come into effect if there is a change to the fire's status. "Change in wind, a change in fire behaviour and basically guidance from Alberta Forestry - if they believe that needs to be changed," Evans said on Monday.  "It's a very dynamic situation, it's going to change from hour to hour." The fire began in the south end of McLean Creek on Sunday, approximately 16 kilometres southwest of Bragg Creek. "We've got crews on standby in case the M.D. of Foothills needs us," Evans said. M.D. of Foothills division 4 Councillor Suzanne Oel said a State of Local Emergency has been declared for the MD of Foothills in response to the McLean Creek Wildfire. "Preparations for a reception centre are underway," Oel wrote on social media. Officials said there was "heavy slash content" which is why there is smoke being generated by the fire. "Tankers, helicopters, and ground crews will continue to work the fire in the morning, and municipal fire crews from Redwood Meadows, Rocky View, and Foothills will continue to plan for community protection in case it is necessary." As of Sunday night, the Forest Fire Hazard level in Redwood Meadows and Bragg Creek was listed as "Extreme."
