Today marks the Bragg Creek Shell gas station's final day in operation and to celebrate it's selling gas for a rock bottom price. Starting at 3 p.m., motorists could fill their tanks for 32 cents per litre while the station's supplies last. The gas station line up was over flowing onto the nearby roadways. Some customers even brought Jerry Cans to fill up. John Teghtmeyer, who owns the gas station with his family, said that they chose "32" because of the number's significance - 1932 was the year they began business at the original Trading Post before it flooded. It was 1996 when they reopened up the gas station. Teghtmeyer recalls gas being sold at 49 cents per litre. "We just decided it was time to move on to some other projects," Teghtmeyer said. "I want to spend some time, more time with my family." Teghtmeyer, a thid generation Creeker, recalls how it felt when business started. "The community supported us along the way - the whole time," Teghtmeyer said. "It's a little sad, for sure a little bitter sweet. But we're ready to move on to the next stage." Karen Cribbin had been an employee at the station for nearly five years. She said her favourite memories stemmed out of the friendliness of both the staff and customers. On some occasions during slower hours, people - including herself - would dance. "It was just fun," Cribbin said." It was a great experience with customers." The gas station started with 10, 000 litres of gas for sale and by 4 p.m. it was completely sold out.
