Draft budget deliberations will take place Nov. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the possibility of finishing up the following day.

Deliberations on the draft 2017 town budget are open to the public.

The Visitor’s Centre held an open house last Saturday and town staff are encouraging members of the public to provide feedback until Nov. 24.

“Maintaining services in challenging economic times and continuing to plan for the future are key goals supported by the draft budget,” according to Laurie Drukier, senior communications advisor for the town.

The draft budget presented to council at the Oct. 24 session indicated a proposed property tax increase of 0.88 per cent, which would translate to roughly an average increase of $18.36 per household per year.

Growth is estimated at two per cent for 2017.

Following deliberations, council would direct administration to make any changes to the draft budget to be presented at the Dec. 12 council session for final approval.
