A motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased at the scene after a collision with two motorcycles and a deer last night.
The 67-year-old male was from Calgary and travelling south on Lochend Road, with another motorcycle following behind, when a deer jumped onto the road in front of the drivers, colliding with both.
Cochrane RCMP and Emergency Services responded to the collision just south of Township Road 280 at approximately 10 p.m.
The first driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and the second driver, a 33-year-old male from Calgary, was transported to Foothills Medical Centre by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.
“Witness accounts indicate that speed was not a factor nor was alcohol. The road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the collision, ” Cochrane RCMP stated in a press release.
The collision is currently under investigation.
