With horse-drawn wagons and the singing of holiday tunes, the Cowboy Trail Church’s Christmas Caroling event may bring out the seasonal spirit in even the biggest Scrooge.

On Dec. 23, bundle up the family and head down to Mitford Pond, where a couple teams of horses will be waiting to take participants on a tour of the west part of Cochrane.

“It’s not a pay-as-you-go trot around the countryside — you’re on the wagon for a few hours,” laughed Dee Doige, spokesperson for the Cowboy Trail Church.

Post-wagon ride, participants will be invited to retreat to the Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) Centre to warm up with some hot beverages. However, the wagon rides will be dependent on the weather, said Doige.

If the temperature dips below -20 degrees, the horses will stay in their warm stables, but residents are welcome to head straight to the CNBC Centre for indoor fun.

The caroling gets underway at 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Mitford Pond.

The event is free, but donations will be gratefully welcomed.
