The Cochrane EMS/Emergency Services parades will be cruising through all the neighbourhoods again this Christmas, looking for donations of food, clothing and toys for area families in need.
Organizer Marni Fedeyko is again teaming up with emergency services personnel for this popular Christmas giving event. The sound of sirens and the sight of the flashing lights get children excited about running outside with their donations.
This year’s schedule for when to watch for ambulances, police cars and fire trucks in your neighbourhood is: Nov 21 – Fireside; Nov 23 - Riversong, Willows, Rivercrest, Precedence, Riviera; Nov 24 - East end, Cochrane Heights, Sunterra; Nov 28 - Jumping Pound, Bow Meadows, Crawford Ranch, Bow Ridge; Nov 30 - West Valley, West Terrace, West Pointe; Dec 1 - Sunset Ridge; Dec 5 - Heritage Hills/ Heartland; Dec 6 - Glenbow, Riverview and Dec 7 – Gleneagles.
The parades will again run shortly after 5 pm and hopefully be completed before 7. As usual they are weather/worker/emergency dependent. Victim services will once again be joining the effort and organizers will be asking the Cochrane and Area Activettes for specific needs each week.
Residents are asked to donate the following:
- Non-perishable food items (not opened or expired)
- Peanut free snacks
- Baby supplies (diapers, formula)
- Toiletries for all ages and sexes
- Cleaning products, laundry detergent
- Pet food
- Pyjamas, mitts, toques, scarves for all ages and sexes
- Unwrapped toys and board games
- Teen items or gift cards
