Some former Cochrane Bottle Depot Ltd. employees are under investigation for fraud.
The Cochrane Bottle Depot is one of three bottle depots in southern Alberta that is being investigated for misappropriating funds, for a combined total of $16 million.
The Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation (ABCRC) issued statements of claim against the bottle depots and has since fired nine employees and disciplined three employees.
“While the ABCRC has been financially impacted by the losses and damages incurred, depot customers and Albertans alike remain unaffected,” – ABCRC press release.
“ABCRC does not, and will not, tolerate any inappropriate activity by its staff, stakeholders, depots, agents or otherwise. As a result of these investigations, ABCRC has reviewed its processes and strengthened the controls that govern procedures at its processing facilities.”
