Cochrane celebrates first responders at annual event

The Cochrane EMS Crisis Community Action Club (CAC) hosted its third annual First Responders Appreciation Day this past weekend at the Lions Events Centre.

The Cochrane EMS Crisis Community Action Club (CAC) hosted its third annual First Responders Appreciation Day this past weekend at the Lions Events Centre, bringing together families and emergency personnel for a day of gratitude and community spirit.

“The whole idea is just to say ‘thank you’ to the individuals that provide protection to us all of last year and the early parts of this year,” said CAC chair Brian Winter. “Without these particular people in place, there would be some issues within our community.”

More than $8,000 in sponsorships helped support the family-friendly event, which featured games, prizes, and food. What began as a gathering to honour EMS staff in its first year has since grown to include local RCMP officers and members of Cochrane Fire Services.

“I think we have a great service here,” Winter added. “The RCMP improved their local station, the Fire Department has grown, and EMS continues to work through its issues to provide the best service in town.”
