Cochrane Fire Services wrapped up their six-week “Be Summer Safe” safety campaign on Aug. 29.

The campaign launched in July, emphasizing the importance of being summer safe. Cochrane Fire Services sent residents weekly summer safety “hot topics” through social media that covered themes like grill and fire pit safety, water safety, fire bans, adverse weather and more.

According to Cochrane Fire Chief Shawn Polley, safety is a priority of the community.

“We are thrilled to have seen so many of our community members taking proper precautions to be summer safe,” he said in a Town release. “This year we saw the number of river rescue and fire pit calls drop compared to previous years, leading us to believe the campaign had a positive impact on the community.”
