This weekend, gather the kids and head to the local fire hall for a morning of breakfast and fire trucks during the Cochrane Fire Fighters Community Foundation’s inaugural pancake breakfast.
The first annual breakfast is set to run Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“(An event like this) is long overdue,” said Dave Levisky, a local firefighter and representative of the foundation.
“We wanted to do something for the kids, and open our doors so people can effectively see who we are and what we do.”
In addition to serving up tasty pancakes, about 13 of the local firemen will be on hand to educate visitors on their jobs and the equipment.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to ask us poignant questions about our jobs and to learn what each of our trucks do,” said Levisky.
“For such a small town, we perform a broad spectrum of skills — from aerial, to swift water rescue, to rope rescue.”
The pancake breakfast and open house is free, but donations will be collected in support of the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation.
