Cochrane Foundation doles out annual cheques

The Cochrane Foundation doled out $60,000 in cheques at its annual event March 29, held at Seniors on the Bow. The money was awarded to 14 charities and three graduate students.

The Cochrane Foundation doled out $60,000 in cheques at its annual event March 29, held at Seniors on the Bow.

The money was awarded to 14 charities and three graduate students.

This year’s benefitting organizations include:

Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC)

Bighill Creek Preservation Society

Bow Valley Habitat Development

Boys and Girls Club Cochrane

Cochrane Activettes Food Bank

Cochrane and Area Humane Society

Cochrane and District Agriculture Society

Cochrane Bethany Care Family Council

Cochrane Historical and Archival Preservation Society

Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation

Lions Club of Cochrane – Cochran Lions Event Centre

Seniors on the Bow

Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre

Variety Children’s Charity of Alberta

The students are Karyssa Brown, working on her Medical Degree (MD); Thomas Phillips, studying a Masters in Neuroscience; and Jeff Lees, a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine (DVM) student in his final year.

The Cochrane Foundation, created in 1993, is a permanent endowment fund dedicated to fund local organizations and individuals who have positive impacts on the town. Since it’s beginnings, the group has reinvested nearly $900,000 back in to the community.
