COMEDY IN CREMONA
On Friday, Feb. 7 the Cremona School Enhancement Society is hosting Comedy and Cocktails at the Heritage Centre east of Cremona. Built in 1903, the historic homestead has been fully restored and is just 28 minutes north of Cochrane up Highway 22. Headliner comedian Jebb Fink will be joined by fellow comedian Adam Blank. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and are available at Cremona School, Cremona Credit Union and through the society. The event will include a cash bar, raffles, auctions and appetizers.
NEWCOMER WELCOME NIGHT
The Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee is hosting a Newcomer Welcome Night on Monday, Feb. 3 at The CLUB Teen Drop in centre (Boys and Girls Club) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be an opportunity to learn about the resources available in Cochrane for newcomers. ANNUAL FINE ART SHOW AND SALE
Senior on the Bow (SOTB) is hosting their 6th annual art show and sale on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 2- 5 p.m. on the second floor of Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre at 800 Griffin Road East. The show is an opportunity for Cochrane art lovers to peruse - and perhaps purchase - a variety of paintings, drawings, photography, pottery and woodcrafts. Highlights will include art demonstrations, live entertainment by the Cochrane Music Society and opportunities to meet the artists themselves. Admission is free and 20 per cent of the purchases support SOTB.
CHASE THE ACE IS BACK
Starting on Saturday, Feb. 1, and weekly thereafter, Kiwanis will hold a Chase the Ace draw at The Iron Bridge pub at 240 Riverview Drive in Cochrane. Tickets cost $5 and will be on sale beginning 6 p.m. The draw takes place at 8 p.m. Chase the Ace is a progressive raffle Kiwanis of Cochrane will be using to fund various community kids’ programs. The jackpot, which has reached $600 for the Feb. 1 draw, accumulates from week-to-week until the weekly ticket winner draws the ace of spade. Kiwanis proceeds are used to fund their Christmas toy project for disadvantaged kids, our bike recycling program, kids’ leadership programs, Kamp Kiwanis disadvantaged kids access and various other community programs.
