Cochrane is in for a damp start to August, with rain showers and the risk of a thunderstorm in the forecast.

While Friday will remain calm and mild, Environment Canada predicts rain showers beginning Saturday afternoon, August 2. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 21°C, though it may feel more like 26°C with the humidex. The UV index will be 7, which is considered high—residents are advised to take sun safety precautions earlier in the day.

Saturday may also bring a thunderstorm, so anyone planning to be outdoors should keep an eye on changing weather conditions and take appropriate safety measures.

Rain will continue into Sunday, with steady showers throughout the day and a noticeably cooler high of just 16°C. By evening, skies will remain mostly cloudy with a 60% chance of rain. Overnight lows will dip to around 10°C.
