As of April 25, a fire advisory is in effect for the Town of Cochrane.

The Town of Cochrane has issued a Fire Advisory, effective 2:30 p.m. on August 27, 2025. Residents are urged to exercise caution, as conditions could quickly lead to a full fire ban.

The advisory, prompted by increasingly dry conditions, indicates a moderate fire danger level. While open fires are still permitted, Cochrane Fire Services recommends soaking the ground around fire pits with water before use.

No activities are prohibited at this time.

Permitted activities include:

  • Public recreational fire pits (Mitford Park, Riverfront Park, Cochrane Ranche)
  • Backyard fire pits (wood burning, contained within an approved receptacle)
  • Propane or natural gas fire pits and fireplaces
  • Indoor and outdoor wood-burning fireplaces or stoves
  • Barbecues (charcoal, propane, or natural gas)
  • Chimineas
  • Wood-fired cooking ovens
  • Wood pellet or chip stoves and smokers

The Town will continue to monitor conditions closely and may escalate to a full fire ban if risks increase.
