Cochrane issues fire restriction for upcoming hot weather

Effective May 7, the Town of Cochrane has issued a fire restriction in anticipation of hot weather and dry, cured grass conditions.

Effective May 7, the Town of Cochrane has issued a fire restriction in anticipation of hot weather and dry, cured grass conditions.

Under the restriction, the following activities are prohibited:

  • use of open fire permits

  • use of Town fire pits

  • use of backyard fire pits

  • use of charcoal briquette barbecues

The following remain permitted:

  • propane or natural gas barbecues

  • propane or natural gas fire pits

  • outdoor fireplaces

  • chimineas

  • fornos ovens

  • indoor wood-burning fireplaces

Residents are asked to use caution and follow all fire safety guidelines.
