An RCMP impaired driving check stop in Cochrane's community of Glenbow resulted in five immediate roadside suspensions.

According to police, during the late evening of Sept. 2, the Cochrane RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit partnered with the Alberta RCMP Traffic Unit for an impaired check stop. Members checked approximately 100 vehicles resulting in five immediate roadside suspensions. Standard field sobriety testing was completed and a drug recognition expert attended to assist with an suspension by drugs.

Suspensions  included driver’s licence suspensions, vehicles towed, and a fine in the range of $300 and $1000. Drivers face additional conditions for reinstatement of their licence and may be subject to further administrative and criminal sanctions and penalties.
