Cochrane Tourism hosted a Jan. 19 open house showcasing its new website and tourism video.
Cochrane Tourism hosted a Jan. 19 open house showcasing its new website and tourism video. The video was made in collaboration with Eagle photographer Ryan McLeod, as the Cochrane Tourism Association (CTA) invited guests to check out some of the new projects the organization has been working on.
“The message is, while Cochrane Tourism seems like it lies low most of the time, we are doing a whole whack of stuff behind the scenes, ” said CTA President John Thomson.
“We have some great people in the room tonight and we are a good, strong organization. ”
The CTA promoted the new website for Cochrane Tourism that was officially launched last week, along with the new promotional “Stomping Grounds ” video, made in collaboration with McLeod.
“I think we have a lot of exciting things happening and we always wanted to showcase what a beautiful location we have and what great independent businesses and what great events we have, ” said CTA's Hillary Richardson.
“The video, made with Ryan, was unveiled at a council meeting last October. It was quite a long process but we wanted to have it ready in time for the high season (and) we've had a long relationship with Ryan on video projects and we were thrilled to work with him - we think the video is amazing. ”
The 2 1/2-minute long video was shot in and around Cochrane, made in collaboration with the Glenbow Ranch, and was heavily funded by a grant through Travel Alberta.
“I am pretty proud of what I got to be a part of, ” said McLeod.
“It was a lot of hard work, but when they told me they were going for a new market strategy it was definitely something I wanted to be a part of. ”
The video took approximately six months from start to finish and was completed in the fall of last year.
“It was a cool project and it was neat to have people come up to me - I've had people come up to me and say they were in tears because they loved the video and they love Cochrane that much and, for me, it means a lot because I love Cochrane that much as well, ” McLeod said.
The event held at the Days Inn in Cochrane was well-attended by locals and guests, including Travel Alberta representatives, Cochrane Lion's Rodeo Queen and Princess, and town Coun. Jeff Toews.
Toews started off by joking about an open bar, then took a minute to thank the CTA.
“You guys work so hard - the work you do is very respected by the town, ” Toews said.
