Cochrane Movie House knows how to keep their employees happy as the local theatre was awarded Employee of the Year.
“It felt great… good to be recognized,” said Hal Wolf, owner and manager of the movie house.
Wolf said the key to keeping employees loving their jobs is to keep communication open, offer great incentives and participate in team-building activities. The movie house staff recently spent a day playing bubble soccer at the Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre where “everyone had a blast” the manager said.
“We are only as good as our staff,” Wolf said.
“We all have our bad days and we all have attitude but we teach our staff that the guests are not the reason for bad days… you need to be proud of the place you work in and feel like a part of the place. Right now it seems like everyone is on the same page.”
Wolf was nominated by one of his employees, who said the local theatre was the “best place” they had ever worked at.
“The management really gets to know each and every one of their employees and makes everyone feel like they’re a part of the Cochrane Movie House family,” the nomination read.
“As for the community, Hal goes above and beyond to make each experience for his customer a positive and rewarding one, causing people to come back again and again.”
The Cochrane Movie House was selected as Employer of the Year after being nominated by an employee for the Cochrane Community Awards and chosen by a selection committee. To check out some of the happy staff, stop by the theatre located at 218 Fifth Ave.
