If you’re still searching for family-friendly activities this holiday season, look no further than the Cochrane Movie House’s free showing of the classic Christmas tale It’s a Wonderful Life.

Spearheaded by Sean Senos, owner of True Directional Services Ltd., the event was created in an attempt to revive the traditional spirit of the Christmas season.

“It’s such an old-fashioned, traditional movie,” said Senos, a Cochrane resident. “I think everyone agrees that Christmas is moving away from its traditional roots. This movie is a reminder of that.”

The 1946 movie stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a troubled businessman who finds himself contemplating suicide on Christmas Eve. His guardian angel intervenes, showing Bailey how his community would be shaped had he never been born.

“This movie is about community — the town rallies around a single man,” said Senos, who lists the movie as his favourite seasonal film. “It really leaves viewers with a sense of family and friends.”

Senos said he is hoping the complimentary viewing will become an annual event.

There will be five showings of the film: Dec. 21-23 at 1 p.m. and Dec. 24 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. For any additional details, please visit cochranemoviehouse.com.
