The Forgotten Farm, a Springbank animal rescue organization, has closed its doors amid complaints of animal neglect and mistreatment, which has lead to an investigation by the Alberta SPCA and Rocky View County’s Bylaw and Animal Services.
Owner of the farm, Tara Davies, did not return calls, but confirmed the closure on social media.
“It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I write this,” she said on her Twitter account on April 23. In the same tweet, she attributed the closure to “the spreading of lies.”
Though the SPCA would not comment on the specific case because it is an open investigation, communications manager Roland Linef said “if we show up somewhere it doesn’t mean anybody has broken any laws.”
He added officers had been to the farm at least two or three times regarding recent calls. He said no charges are pending at this time and no animals were seized.
