The Filipino Canadian Association of Cochrane Alberta (FCACA) held its fifth annual highway clean-up on the morning of May 2, with volunteers clearing 19 kilometres of roadside between Heartland and Ghost Lake.

“Initiated primarily to raise environmental awareness while also supporting our organization through fundraising, this event uplifts the spirit of volunteerism—not only among Filipinos, but among other Cochranites as well,” said FCACA vice-president Edwin Aguanta.

Aguanta estimated that more than 40 volunteers participated, including members from the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee and the Ukrainian Association in Cochrane.
