Final opportunities to meet candidates

Municipal candidate forums are popping up all over the place.

Municipal candidate forums are popping up all over the place.

In addition to two having been put on by Seniors on the Bow, one by the Cochrane Settlement Community Association and another meet-and-greet at the Nan Boothby Memorial Library, two more have been announced.

Chuck Collins will hold what he called a ‘social one-on-one’ at North Star Ford Oct. 17 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Collins said the event would provide the opportunity for Cochrane residents to meet and speak face-to-face with the three mayoral candidates, all of which he said had agreed to attend.

The event will be the second mayor-only forum, the first being the Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce’s Lunch and Learn, held Sept. 25 at the Cochrane Legion.

The Cochrane Environmental Action Committee (CEAC) will hold its own ‘candidate environmental forum’ Oct. 18.

The event will be held at the Cochrane RancheHouse Theatre from 6:30-9 p.m. and will feature council, mayoral and school board candidates for Rocky View Schools.

CEAC will reveal that premiere showing of its production When Two Worlds Collide, with the candidate forum to follow.

The event is intended to offer an opportunity for residents to learn how council candidates will partner with the environmental community and help make Cochrane a sustainable community.

A Rocky View Schools candidate forum for its board of trustees will also be held Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in the library at Cochrane High School.
