With their 10th anniversary in sight, the Foothills Art Club will be celebrating with the public this weekend at their annual Fall Art Show and Sale.
The 10th annual event is set to run Oct. 19, at the Cochrane Alliance Church and promises to offer paintings to please any art lover: from oil, to acrylic, to watercolour, to mixed medium.
The art extravaganza is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
About 25-30 of the club’s members will be putting their work on display.
Each has been asked to feature about five of their paintings — for a grand total of more than 125 paintings for show goers to peruse.
“There will be a little bit of everything,” said Lily Ching, club president. “There are always traditional western pieces, landscape artwork, along with abstract pieces.”
With 2013 marking the 10th year for the local art club, the Fall Show and Sale is gearing to be one of the celebratory events.
Ching said there will be paintings displayed at a variety of price points. Proceeds go straight to the local artist, although a small commission is paid to the art club.
This year, show and sale attendees will get to check out some new artists, said Ching.
The club welcomed 15 new members for the upcoming season — each with their own unique flavour.
In total, the Foothills Art Club has about 55 members and is always on the lookout for more.
The group meets on Wednesdays, from 6-9 p.m., at St. Andrew’s United Church in Cochrane.
“The more the merrier,” said Ching. “The hard work and support you see at the club is amazing. We inspire each other.”
Admission to the Foothills Art Club Fall Show and Sale is free. Refreshments will be available for attendees.
Everyone who checks out the sale will have a chance to score an original painting by club member Gwen Stickel.
