Once again this Halloween, Frights for Food - Asylum, with be bringing scares to Riversong to collect donations for the Veterans Association Food Bank. Last year the event collected 413lb of food and $240 to help support our veterans.
The event runs on Halloween from 5 to 9 p.m. at 70 Riverheights Cres. Individuals can also drop off donations anytime the week of Halloween and leave them on the porch. Donations are not required for anyone to come check out and enjoy the haunted house on Oct. 31.
This year, the Asylum has reopened its doors (those who attended the first year may recall their first experience). The ASYLUM has expanded, but still offers attendees three levels of scares:
Graveyard (lowest scare): Walk into the freshly dug and expanded grave yard where you can pick out your grave. You may encounter the groundskeeper digging a fresh grave and keep an eye out for the Grim Reaper. We recommend everyone start by visiting the graveyard so they can pick out their final resting spot before continuing in the Laboratory or the Asylum.
Laboratory (medium scare): Enter the Laboratory and Operating room where you may encounter the Asylum's doctor completing his experiments.
Enter the Asylum (maximum scare): Walk the halls the Asylum (if you dare), you may become a permanent guest. You'll likely encounter several of our haunted and un-dead patients. Once you enter, the only hope for escape is to find your way to the Laboratory.
Any assistance you may be able to provide in terms of helping us share this event and promote awareness in the community would be greatly appreciated.
