It may not be the peak season for the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park (GRPP), but spokesperson Tara McFadden said there are still a number of ways people can show their support for the park over the Christmas season.

“The Park is fairly quiet over the winter months but we are offering a photography course on Jan. 5,” she said. “This course would be a great Christmas gift for the photography fanatic in your house.”

For the nature lover’s Christmas wish list, the park has a few options to put under the evergreen, including The Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park: Grass, Hills & History book, written by Cochrane author, Fred Stenson, and available at either the park or at Bentleys Books; annual memberships, which are $35 per person or $50 for a family — which include discounts on merchandise from local park business partners (retailers, lodgings, restaurants); also being offered as a stocking stuffer are gift certificates for two-hour golf cart tours of the park.

A big part of what the GRPF sets out to do is to promote tourism to the Cochrane and Calgary areas through its partnerships with area businesses.

“The idea of promoting businesses is to create a win for everyone and to get people engaged with the park. The more people connect with the park, the more success the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation will have in being able to protect the park, provide programs and add new features and trail connections,” explained McFadden, adding that a major component of this is to promote park memberships — continuing to spread the word about the park across Alberta and beyond.
