Thanks to Cochrane's giving hearts during the most wonderful time of the year, No Frills and Loblaw-affiliated grocery stores celebrated their most successful Holiday Food Drive to date.

More than $1,173 funds were donated and 2,887 lbs of food at Mark's No Frills in Cochrane. Across outlets in Alberta, a total of $365,661 was donated and 159,913 lbs of non-perishable food items donated between November 29 and December 24, 2019. This marks the largest amount of money and food collected since the initiative began 10 years ago.

"We are always so appreciative of the effort and generosity on the part of both store colleagues and their customers, especially so with this year's record-breaking results," said Kathy Tucker, chairperson of the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank. "This effort will mean well-stocked shelves for us and for food banks across the province all winter long, and that's a huge thing for our organizations and for those individuals and families who rely on our support."

Since Loblaw's first national food drive was held back in the spring of 2009, stores across Canada have raised $24.8 million for local food banks with $3.3 million raised in Alberta.
