The staff at Cochrane Home Treasures is hoping to see shoppers both new and old the week of Nov. 19-24.
The cause for celebration is the 10th anniversary of the local not-for-profit organization and thrift store, owned and operated by Treasures for Your Home Society.
“I love the mission, I love giving back to the community. . . it’s amazing the quality of stuff people give us,” said board vice-chair and volunteer, Carol Caouette, who has been garnering donations from local business to give away as door prizes that week. There will also be store-wide savings.
“We have the best, most dedicated volunteers,” said store manager, Tina Branscombe.
“In the last 10 years we have grown so much — finding a bigger space is a huge priority.”
The store is surprisingly tidy and organized, considering that the need for a bigger space has been evident for quite some time.
Unfortunately, Cochrane’s limited large commercial spaces combined with high rental rates don’t fit the budget for the small not-for-profit organization.
The board is looking at kicking fundraising initiatives into high gear in 2013 to help them acquire the much-needed larger space.
This Dec. 8 marks ‘Kids Christmas’, where youngsters can get assistance from store elves while shopping.
Last year, the society donated $56,000 back into the community of Cochrane. Learn more at cochranehometreasures. ca.
