RCMP have apprehended a mother and son in connection to a robbery at Goldtown Jewellers.

Twenty-eight-year-old Catlin Cory Callahan and 51-year-old Shelley Joanne Callahan are facing charges of one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of theft under $5,000.

The pair is alleged to have taken a yellow gold diamond ring valued at $16,000 and a yellow gold necklace worth $1,100 from the downtown Cochrane store on Dec. 17, 2012.

Calgary Police Services members arrested the son in the city on Jan. 10 after receiving a tip following the release of video-surveillance images of the two suspects.

Shelley Callahan turned herself into police in Airdire on Jan. 15. She was then transferred into Cochrane RCMP custody to await her first court appearance on Jan. 24 in Cochrane Provincial Court.

Catlin Cory Callahan is scheduled to appear in Cochrane court on Jan. 29.

Surveillance footage showed a male reaching over a display case three times, opening the case from the rear, stealing two items and placing them in his jacket.

A female suspect blocked the line of sight of the storeowner, who was also serving another customer at the time of the incident.
