From wiggling and giggling to taxes and naturopathics, the Nan Boothby Memorial Library has something for everyone this fall.

Brenda Koob is the program coordinator and team lead for the children’s programs at the library. She said due to popular demand they have had to add extra days to run classes this year.

Koob said there are two fall sessions for the classes with the first one running from September until October and the second running from November to December. All of the programs are free.

“They are kinesthetic learners and they are very bodily focused still. Moving and dancing is a huge part of a child’s development in all aspects,” said Koob of children who participate in the program.

“I think that is really necessary for young children because there is so much sitting at computers. I am trying to get them socializing as well and moving their bodies instead of looking at screens all of the time,” Koob added.

Wiggles and Giggles is for parents and children aged one and under and runs Thursdays from 1 – 1:30 p.m.

Hickory Dickory Tots is for parents and toddlers under three years of age and is Fridays from 11 – 11:30 a.m. with an additional class Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

Musical Mites will be Wednesdays from 11 – 11:30 a.m. and is for parents and preschoolers.

Dramatic! Story and Craft Time is for preschoolers ages three to five and will be held Wednesdays from 10 -10:45 a.m. and a second session held Tuesdays at 1 p.m.

Koob pointed out that a lot of the preschoolers in the program would go on to enter kindergarten together, and knowing other kids who are entering the school makes the transition easier.

“There is a sense of unity and community and we are really trying to promote community in kids,” she said.

Koob said that not only do the programs allow kids to socialize, but the parents get to socialize as well. She said that there are a lot of new families in Cochrane and they are looking for programs where they meet other new families and can connect.

Koob added that the large amount of new families in the town is why she thinks the classes are filling up so quickly.

The library is also offering programs for adults, which are also free. The classes run from September through November and include Christmas card making, budgeting and more.

Anyone interested in registering for any of these programs can call the library at 403-932-4353 or they can stop by the library and register in person.
