Limited spots remain for Sept. 14 Ride for the Ranch

The countdown is on for a one-of-a-kind tour of the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park — one seen from between the furry ears of a horse.

Ride for the Ranch is a first-time fundraising initiative for the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GRPF), one that aims to provide supporters with a full-day guided trail ride through the park.

The trail ride is slated to run Sept. 14.

“This is a unique opportunity to see the park in a way you haven’t seen it before,” Tara McFadden, the foundation’s community engagement officer, told the Eagle last month.

Riders will be hosted by park conservation officers and foundation staff, and will be guided throughout the park, crossing the river and catching glimpses of historic ruins and the old Glenbow Village.

Accompanying the riders will be cowboy poet Doris Daley. Lunch will be provided by the park.

Following the trail ride, guests will gather at the Bearspaw Lions Hall for a steak dinner, along with the tales and poems of Daley.

There are limited spots still available for this unique tour of Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. Tickets for the all-day event are $1,000 (with a $750 tax receipt).

Dinner tickets can be purchased for $150 (with a $100 tax receipt).

To be eligible to participate, riders are required to have an Alberta Equestrian Federation membership for insurance purposes.

The horses are required to be de-wormed the night before the ride, and riders are required to feed their horses weed-free feed for the two days prior to the ride.
