The Living in Cochrane, Alberta Facebook group is one of the most popular online community hubs for the town with over 33,000 members.

After nearly a month in social media limbo, Cochrane’s most beloved Facebook group has returned and members are celebrating with GIFs, emojis and a chorus of “hoorays.”

On Friday, Aug. 22, Living in Cochrane, Alberta suddenly popped back onto local timelines, much to the delight (and relief) of thousands of residents who had been wondering where their favourite online hangout had gone.

The group mysteriously disappeared July 30, leaving Cochranites scratching their heads. A temporary backup page filled the gap, but it wasn’t quite the same.

When the original group finally reappeared, users wasted no time in showing their joy.
“Welcome back! We missed you,” one member posted.
“Thanks to the admin team for all their hard work,” wrote another.

Even admins admitted it was an emotional journey: “A few drinks were drank, tears shed and many discussions of how to get this local group back,” one said. “Cheers to all of you for checking in to see where it went.”

For years, Living in Cochrane, Alberta has served as the town’s virtual bulletin board, a place for sharing events, asking questions, swapping recommendations and a little lighthearted banter.

With the group back in action, Cochrane’s online chatter has resumed at full strength. Those who want to join the fun can find it at Living in Cochrane, Alberta on Facebook.
