Well-known Cochrane author and blogger Lynn Dove’s poem “Dragonfly Dance” recently won in the “blog” category at the national Word Awards.
This is the second time Dove has won a Word Award, which celebrates Christian writers across Canada.
The Word Guild hosted the 35th annual awards ceremony online on Sept. 16.
Co-hosted by Heather Stuart and Bill Fledderus, the awards event recognized unpublished work by new writers as well as work published in 2022 for both Christian and mainstream audiences.
The over 60 award categories included non-fiction books, novels, articles, columns, poems, blogs, and song lyrics.
The Word Awards were established to encourage the pursuit of “excellence in the art, craft, practice and ministry of writing and help raise the profile of Canadian writers who are Christian.”

Dove is one of Cochrane’s best known writers with her first published book, “Shoot the Wounded”published 14 years ago which became one part of the “Love The Wounded” trilogy. The second book in the trilogy “Heal The Wounded” went on to win the Bronze Medal in the Young Adult- Coming of Age category in the "2011 Readers Favourite Book Awards."
Her short works have also appeared in numerous anthologies, including the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series.
