A single vehicle rollover July 16 resulted in the death of a Morley man, said Cochrane RCMP officials in a media release.

The accident occurred along Highway 1A, west of the turn off into the townsite. Cochrane RCMP and Morley EMS responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m.

A 26-year-old man was the lone occupant in the westbound Chevrolet Venture when the van left the road and landed upside down in a ditch.

The release stated that the man was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending the notification of his next of kin.

Police believe alcohol and speed may have been factors in the collision.

Cochrane RCMP encourage anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at 403-851-8000.

In a separate investigation, the body of a 52-year-old male has been found just south of the townsite of Morley, on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

A passerby found the body July 10.

“We have determined there was nothing suspicious about the death,” said Sgt. Chad Fournier of the Cochrane RCMP detachment.

“An autopsy determined the man died of natural causes.”

The identity of the deceased is not being released until notification of next of kin can be completed.

Fournier said that man was last seen June 20.

He added that the man had not been reported missing.

Fournier said Cochrane detachment, Cochrane GIS (geographic information systems), Calgary Major Crime Unit and Calgary Forensic Identification Section responded to the scene.
