One Calgary man is dead and another is missing after a canoe three people were travelling in capsized on Barrier Lake in Kananaskis on August 16, Cochrane RCMP say.
On August 16, Cochrane RCMP were dispatched after receiving a notice of a capsized canoe on Barrier Lake in Kananaskis. There were three occupants in the canoe, according to RCMP.
A 56-year-old female was located and transported to hospital with hypothermia. A 60-year-old male was found dead and a 30-year-old male is still missing. All three are Calgary residents.
Cochrane RCMP have said searches thus far have not been successful in locating the missing male. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team are currently undergoing a search for the missing male and people are asked to avoid the area to allow responding crews to work safely.
