FortisAlberta customers can now be notified by text or email of power outages. The company has launched alerts through the fortisalberta.com website which will indicate when and why the power is out, if there is any updated restoration information and when the power is back on.
Customers must first create an online account before they can begin to receive such notifications. Multiple alerts can be configured to accommodate users who may have more than one service area with FortisAlberta.
"FortisAlberta offers alerts right down to the site so that customers are only receiving information that pertains directly to them," said Todd Dettling, vice president, customer service.
A free mobile app is also offered by FortisAlberta which allows customers to view real-time outage information, request streetlight repairs, check project status and report outages.
