Banff-Cochrane MLA Ron Casey was in Cochrane Sept. 8 to hand out Community Initiatives Program (CIP) and Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) grants to five organizations.
The purpose of the grants are to reinvest revenues from provincial lotteries back into local communities. The announcement was made at Cochrane Toyota.
Spray Lake Sawmills Recreation Park Society received $62,500 through CFEP to replace the turf at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.
Cochrane Lions Minor Football Association got a CFEP grant worth $125,000 to assist with facility renovations at Cochrane Lions Field.
The Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) received a $7,500 CIP grant to help off-set hosting costs of this year’s SummerFest event.
The Arts and Culture Foundation of Cochrane will get $20,000 to assist with the hosting costs of the 2014 Canada Day Family Concert and Arts Festival.
And, the Cochrane and District Agricultural Society were handed $12,000 to help with the special event costs of the second annual Fall Fair, which runs Sept. 19-21.
