The Resolve Legal group, with the help of the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area, is raising funds to go toward Big Hill Haven Emergency Women's shelter.
The legal team as two upcoming public interest and Charity fundraiser events designed to educate the public on issues of topical importance while raising a few dollars to go to a good cause.
"Our first event on July 20 deals with bullying, and the other event on July 28 deals with information on “How to hire a contractor” “what home renos will give you more bang for your resale buck” and “what to do if your renovation contract goes south from both a contractor and home owner’s perspective," Cyndy Morin, from Resolve Legal Group stated. "There will be fundraising activities at both events with 100 per cent of the net proceeds going to the shelter."
Included in the fundraising activities are a dunk a lawyer event and a picnic table sale.
"We are also auctioning off picnic tables that have been designed by artists and painted by youth from the boys and girls club," Morin said.
The anti-bullying workshop, designed for parents with children aged six to 10 goes July 20 from noon to 4:30 p.m. The Buyer and Builder Beware sessions will be held July 28 also from noon to 4:30 p.m. Registration for the events can be found on eventbrite.ca.
The anti-bullying session will feature:
Najwa Zahr RSW, MSW from Bluestone Therapy. Najwa will share her expertise relating to Bullying and Mental Health in Youth.
Bikers Against Child Abuse will join during lunch to share their own experiences of being bullied as children.
Safe4Life Personal Safety will present the SafeKids Self Defense program. Children will learn awareness, safety and confidence skills they can use immediately
Resolve Legal Group, Loberg Law, the Better Business Bureaus and Cochrane realtor Debbie Leah with Royal LePage will be on hand for the July 28 event.
