Rocky View Schools (RVS) announced that they will be welcoming their newest group of young minds in 2024/2025, by opening kindergarten registration for all RVS institutions on Jan. 22, 2024.
RVS Superintendent, Greg Luterbach, said all members of RVS are excited to welcome the newest cohort of students to their schools.
“Kindergarten is an exciting milestone for both learners and their families, as it marks the starting point of an educational journey for many children that will see them through to their teenage years and set them up for success throughout their life,” Luterbach said.
RVS offers kindergarten as a half-day program in most of their elementary schools. Select RVS schools offer full-day kindergarten programs on alternating days.
In spring, young students will be placed in morning or afternoon programs based on circumstances outlined by parents and available space.
Although registration will be open throughout the year, RVS encourages families to register early as it helps both families and schools plan a successful transition, while providing RVS the necessary information to have teachers and resources in place.
The standardized age in Alberta for kindergarten entry requires students to turn five-years-old by Dec. 31 of the school year they begin kindergarten. For example, the child born between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019 can register for the 2024/2025 school year.
All new kindergarten registrations must be done through SchoolEngage, RVS’ online registration system. During operational hours, schools will allow access to a computer and assist families who may not have access to a computer.
