The Schmidt family welcomed 2017 by bringing home Cochrane’s first baby of the new year.
Charlee Ann Schmidt rang in at seven pounds, nine ounces and 20.6 inches long at 5:42 p.m., following nine hours of labour at the Foothills Hospital in northwest Calgary.
“Everything went well,” said proud papa, Jeremy, who was getting ready to bring his wife, Kylee, and baby daughter home Monday evening while he spoke with the Eagle.
The couple, who are also parents to three-year-old big brother, Cooper, settled on the classic name of Charlee – with the feminine touch to the spelling of the name – and added ‘Ann’ after Jeremy’s mother Elizabeth.
Jeremy, a carpenter, has lived in Cochrane for nearly 10 years and Kylee grew up in the foothills town.
The couple always planned to have two children and according to Jeremy, will “play it by ear” whether they will have more.
