The second suspect has been taken into custody by Cochrane RCMP in connection to a recent home robbery in Springbank.

The break and enter received extensive media coverage because of a laptop that was stolen from the Rocky View County home that held photos of the family’s deceased son.

Douglas Glen Weaver, 32, turned himself in to police on Dec. 5, aware of the warrant issued for his arrest.

Weaver, along with Christopher Cole Thomsen, 30, both Calgary residents, will face charges of break and enter, along with 16 additional charges in relation to the use of stolen credit cards.

The break-in, which occurred on Oct. 18, was aided by the release of surveillance photos of the two suspects purchasing goods in Calgary with stolen credit cards.

Prior to their apprehension, the stolen laptop was left at a Calgary fire department and returned to the Springbank family. Police continue to search through the stolen goods and hope to soon return them to their rightful owners.
