The Blue and Gold night at Bow Valley High School is one of the most prestigious nights of the year.
What used to be separated into multiple nights of awards for sports, academics, band, leadership and so on has, in recent years, become the be-all end-all of awards at Bow Valley.
Cole Lethebe, a Grade 11 student cleaned house on June 6, picking up senior male athlete of the year and Skylar Iredale, a future forward with the SAIT Trojans, picked up the female athlete of the year award.
“This wasn’t something I thought about at all this year,” said Lethebe. “I just like playing sports and this was probably the most fun year ever in high school.”
With Iredale heading to SAIT, Lethebe said he’s contemplated his future and hopes to head down to the United States to join the Division 1 college ranks as a track athlete.
