What makes Cochrane so great? That’s the question Explore Cochrane is asking residents and neighbours to answer — on camera — for a chance to win an unforgettable adventure experience worth $3,500.
Starting June 23, the Cochrane Tourism Association will begin accepting video submissions that highlight the people, places, and experiences locals love most about the region.
“No one can share what makes our region special better than the people who live here,” says Sebastien Leskow, President of the Cochrane Tourism Association. “Through Explore Cochrane, we’re proud to help locals show the world what makes this area unforgettable.”
Participants must be 18 or older and live or work in Cochrane or nearby communities. Videos can be up to 60 seconds in length and should showcase a highlight of the area — from hidden gems and local shops to favourite trails and adventures.
“This contest is about locals becoming our storytellers,” adds Callandra Caufield, Executive Director of the Cochrane Tourism Association. “Explore Cochrane is all about celebrating and sharing what we love most — and who better to do that than the people who know it best?”
The timeline of the contest is as follows:
- Submissions closes August 22.
- Judges select four finalists August 26.
- Public voting for grand prize winner August 26-31.
- Grand prize winner announced September 1.
The grand prize is far from a typical getaway. The winning entrant gets to bring a guest to Cochrane for a specially curated experience that includes:
- $1,000 flight credit
- Private helicopter pickup at Calgary International Airport
- Two-night stay at Canalta Hotel
- Guided adventures with Alpine Air Adventures, Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary, and Kelsey’s Caravan Water Adventures
- Chef’s tasting dinner at The Fence & Post
- VIP access to Bow Valley Bootstomp 2026
“We all have someone we’d love to show around our hometown — this is the perfect chance to do just that,” said Caufield. “It’s a unique prize that lets locals roll out the welcome mat and share their favourite experiences first-hand.”
Two additional winners will receive local tourism experience packages, and all winning videos will be featured on Explore Cochrane’s social media channels.
Locals can enter by posting their video on Instagram with the hashtag #CochraneExplorer and tagging @ExploreCochrane, or by submitting it online at cochranetourism.ca/explorer-contest. The website also includes full contest rules, filming tips, and local inspiration.
