Cochrane’s tri-site of schools — Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School, Ecole Manachaban Middle School and Cochrane High School — will have hundreds of students hitting the sidewalk and the playing field. All in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. Between the three schools, it is estimated that about 2,000 students will be participating in the Terry Fox Run, which is scheduled for Sept. 27.
Before the run, each school will be holding their own student assembly before beginning the run. The Terry Fox Run itself will last about 15 minutes — from 11:30-11:45 a.m.
The elementary and middle-school-aged children will take to the fields, while the high school students will complete their run on the sidewalk around the tri-school site.
The foundation raises money for cancer research and continues to share the story of Terry Fox. The foundation has supported nearly $20 million in discovery-based research each year in Canada, according to the foundation’s website.
More than $600 million has been collected internationally for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. For more details on the Terry Fox Foundation, or to donate to the cause, visit terryfox.org.
