Town reminds public Environmental Reserve remains closed

Due to residents accessing closed trails and adjacent pathways, a reminder is being issued informing the public that the Environmental Reserve between the Riviera and Rivercrest neighbourhoods remain temporarily closed.

The Town of Cochrane is reminding residents to stay off closed trails in the Environmental Reserve between the Riviera and Rivercrest neighbourhoods due to the presence of a protective coyote den.

Despite clear signage, the Town’s Parks and Open Spaces Department received reports that some residents continue to access the restricted area, prompting renewed safety warnings.

“We kindly ask that you respect all posted signage, avoid the closed area, and keep dogs leashed at all times,” the Town shared in a recent Facebook post. “The area is being closely monitored and will be reopened once it is deemed safe to do so.”

The closure is in place to protect both public safety and local wildlife during the coyote denning period.

Residents who witness concerning coyote behaviour within town limits are encouraged to report it by emailing [email protected].
