Andrew Pooreagle’s court appearance has been rescheduled to May 13 at the Cochrane Court of Justice, where he is expected to make an election and enter a plea.
Pooreagle, 38, was arrested by Cochrane RCMP on April 30 on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation following multiple reports of a man pointing a long gun at another individual while driving a stolen vehicle.
The Stoney Nakoda First Nation resident is facing 36 charges, including:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Seven counts of breaching release orders
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Unlawful operation of a motor vehicle without insurance
Also arrested was Jackson Wesley, 35, who faces 19 charges, while a third occupant—a youth whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act—was charged with 11 offences.
In total, more than 50 charges were laid in connection with the April 30 incident.
