Update:
According to Rocky View County fire officials, there was a well fire starting at 2 p.m. on Monday near Big Hill Springs Road in the vicinity of Range Road 40. The fire was reported to be under control as of 9 p.m. this evening, but there was no official confirmation of injuries associated with the fire despite media reports which are circulating suggesting there were.
A statement on the Rocky View County website reads:
"At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Monday September 30, 2024, Rocky View County Fire was notified of a gas well fire north of Cochrane, 271400 and Range Rd 40 ... Rocky View County remains on stand-by. As of 5:00 p.m. no evacuation order has been issued. There is no present danger to area residents at this time."
Rocky View County also corrected a previous report suggesting Orlen Upstream Canada was the owner of the well. The County admits this initial report was inaccurate.

According to a post being circulated on X from poster Chris Ratzlaff, there was a fire at the site of a pumpjack on Big Hill Springs Road north of Cochrane today just before 3 p.m.
Details are sparse and no official confirmation has come in from any source, but some media reports suggest there might have been injuries associated with the fire.
