Water Valley is one of the 150 communities across Canada that will be hosting a 150th celebration garden next year.
A program, called Canada’s Garden Route was set up this year in partnership with Canada Post, the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, and the Niagara Parks Commission (to name a few) to distribute 1,000 tulips to 150 communities across Canada.
The Water Valley Community Association applied to be part of route with the 150th celebration garden for next year and was chosen earlier this week.
Organizers are inviting residents and guests to bring their gloves and gardening tools to join in the planting of 1,000 tulips next week.
“The idea of the campaign is to involve as many people of the community as possible with the planting this fall and with the celebration in the spring when the bulbs emerge,” organizers explained in an email.
The family-friendly planting ceremony will take place on Oct. 4 at the four-way stop in Water Valley starting at 4:30 p.m. Afterwards organizers will be hosting a barbecue for all the volunteers.
