On July 27, teams will be testing their woodsman-like prowess, as the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre opens their doors for their Log Challenge.
To be held at the SLS Centre, the Log Challenge will test the skill and strength of competitors. The event will feature teams of four people — each with at least one female member — making their way through a series of woodsy contests such as the Carry It, Cut It and Throw It events.
In total, there are five log-related activities, said Raphael Buergi, kidszone coordinator at the SLS Centre.
“This isn’t a professional-level woodsman competition,” said Buergi. “But it will be challenging. Everyone is eligible to participate.”
The winning team takes home 50 per cent of the prize money — the remaining 50 per cent will be donated to Canadian Red Cross in support of flood cleanup.
Following the challenge, the lumber will be auctioned off with the proceeds also going to support the organization.
The Log Challenge is slated to get underway at 10 a.m.
The cost to enter is $50 per team.
