The Alberta government’s proposed legislation to bring workplace safety regulations to farms across the province is being met with concern. So much so that debate in the legislature on the initiative has been suspended.

Darren Johnson will be taking the stage at the Legacy Guitar and Coffee House at 8 pm on Saturday, Dec. 5. This will be the blues and roots artist’s second appearance at Legacy, located at 214 First St W.

The Bow Valley High School Christmas Concert will be happening Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in the school gym. The evening will feature performances from the school’s Jr. Band, Sr. Band, Sr. Jazz Band, and Choir.

Cochrane’s St. Andrew’s United Church will be holding its annual Christmas concert on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at 128 First St E. Admission will be in the form of a donation to the Cochrane Activettes, either in cash or a food bank item.

The Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane will be hosting a Christmas market on Dec. 5 from 11 am to 3 p.m. Located at 302 Quigley Drive, the market will feature goods and services sold by local vendors as well as residents of the centre.

Cochrane’s newest holiday tradition at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre will kick off on Dec. 5 from noon-2 p.m. with the Festival of Trees.

A Calgary suspect has been charged for drug offences following a traffic stop in Cochrane. The traffic stop that resulted in drug charges occurred this past Friday in the Fireside subdivision in Cochrane.

A Stoney First Nation family has been left fearful but unharmed after shooting. On Nov. 28 in the early morning, an unknown suspect(s) shot a high-caliber round through the front door of the family’s Morley residence from a nearby road.

The Cochrane High School Psychology Club’s workshop about suicide awareness and prevention was a success. Taking place Nov. 18 in the school gym, more than 100 people participated in the student-run workshop from noon-3:30 pm.

The Cochrane RCMP are currently seeking public assistance for information about a break and enter in the Ghost Lake area earlier this year. Between May 10-18, a cabin located on the north side of Ghost Lake was the target of intentional mischief.
