Highlighting the parity between Medicine Hat and Cochrane – who finished second and third in the Heritage Junior Hockey League's (HJHL) south division during the regular season – two of the three games thus far have been decided in overtime. 

Keeping her aspirations modest, the Bragg Creek ski racer said she is hoping for a top-five or maybe even a podium placement at the upcoming games.

Captain Patrick Forde led the charge for the Cochrane Generals this past weekend, leading the junior B hockey team to a first-round sweep over the High River Flyers.

“The regular season is important, but what it really comes down to is the playoffs, and we’re well prepared,” Ripplinger said. “The HJHL playoffs are a blast. It’s a whole different hockey game – it’s fast, high-hitting, very physical, and completely different than the regular season."

The Chaos' opening game against the Titans will begin at 7:30 p.m. at SLS Centre this Saturday.

“Everyone is affected by cancer in some capacity, so we really want to encourage people to come support this cause and raise money for Kids Cancer Care."

Cochranites looking to learn more about bullying will be able to do so on a date known nationally as Pink Shirt Day, during a special presentation at the SLS Centre Feb. 22.

"The buzz in the room was just phenomenal all night. Some of them had not been to a game since they played, and for some, it had been 40 years since they’d seen each other."

Generals president Rick Richards said hosting an alumni night is not only a great reunion for former players, but also a neat experience for long-time fans of the junior B team.

The annual men's bonspiel at the Cochrane Curling Club returned to town last weekend, bringing more than 20 men's teams from far and wide to the SLS Centre for a weekend of fun and friendly competition.
